  2. Where is the Grand Canyon? • The Grand Canyon is in Arizona. It is located 247 miles north of Phoenix, Arizona.

  3. How was the Grand Canyon formed? • The Grand Canyon is believed to have been formed by erosion, primarily by ice and water, and next by wind. Because the Grand Canyon is located in the desert, the soil is very dry and hard. It cannot absorb water when the rains come. The result is usually a flash flood, that can move large rocks and boulders.
