First stop… Cairo, ga • Flowering trees, pecans, vegetables, family conversations, and George’s hometown memories await us in Cairo. • Trooper Jackie Robertson was born in Cairo. He served in the Horse Cavalry as a Buffalo Soldier before he began his major league baseball career.
thomasville, ga • 13 miles east of Cairo (GA highway 84) is Thomasville where Lt. Henry O. Flipper was born. He was the first black graduate of West Point Military Academy in 1877. and is buried in Magnolia Cemetery.
