  1. Why Outdoor Learning is a Key Component in Student’s Growth? Amidst this lockdown and online learning, what are students missing? The joy of sitting along with their friends, the joy of dining together, and playing. In play-based learning, students often enjoy outdoor learning such as exploring the woods collecting treasures, starting a garden or creating a compost bin, building a camp or simply reading the books for school in the outdoors for the day, which the students are missing a great deal now during this lockdown. We at Nature Nurture know the importance of children coming in contact with nature and advocate the same. Advantages of outdoor learning • Builds confidence and improves social skills – The time, freedom, and space the children get in outdoor learning help them to build confidence and improve social skills as they learn while they play where learning is not thrust upon them. In play-based learning, activities such as sharing of tools and participating in structured play encourage children to work together as a group, strengthening their bonds with their peers, and fortifying teamwork. • Improves communication, motivation, and concentration – Outdoor learning provides sensory experiences that improve the communication skill of a child as they boost language development. This has a positive effect on a child’s self-esteem, which is a crucial part of the child’s development. Fascinated by nature, children develop high levels of interest leading to high levels of curiosity driving attention. • Boosts physical skills, knowledge, and understanding – Outdoor activity improves stamina and fine motor skills, and also a healthy weight is maintained overall. Outdoor learning entices children to develop respect for their environment thereby developing the sense of protecting the environment. No books for school can teach you what nature does. Nothing can beat the fresh air, exercise, and excitement that outdoor learning offers. Outdoor learning is fun, intellectual, allowing children to explore, discover, and play. Children who participate in outdoor learning tend to be more content than those who don’t. Let us wait for some more time to get back to nature. The COVID-19 will end and the doors to nature will be opened sooner. Mother nature never fails, does she?
