What is Plant Cloning Plant cloning is a form of human-controlled asexual propagation of a plant. Cloning is used to recreate an ideal plant specimen from a parent plant. The techniques used to clone are cuttings, layering, division, and grafting or budding. Clones are identical recreations of the parent plant, with all its good and bad qualities.
Plant Cloning Process: Plant cloning is commonly used by horticulturists to obtain plants with specific characteristics such as height, quality or flower color. They however use a different procedure which is called tissue culture and which implies using a small piece of the desired plant and which is grown in a test tube that is able to provide the piece of plant with the nutrients it needs.
Methods used to Clone Plants • Cutting • Layering • Grafting and Budding • Care of Clones • Rooting Hormone
Materials required to Cloning: • Propagation tray with grow plugs • Clonex CloningSolution • Rubbing liquor • Shotglass • Cup of the water • A mother place to cut
Uses of Plant Cloning in Modern World Plant Cloning has evolved at a fast rate over the past few decades. Scientists and researchers have discovered ways that Plant Cloning can benefit the world and it’s environment. • Producing more plants for the environment keeping it more safe and healthy, this inturn helping people have healthier lives. • Producing more plants for general use (decorations, in houses, garden, pretty much everywhere). • Growing a larger food supply for society and this can also benefit countries or areas affected with a low supply of food.
