Introduction • This curriculum is designed for a 2nd grade class • Students will work in conjunction with a Kindergarten class • Project is aimed towards enhancing learning capabilities
Objectives • Students will develop their linguistic skills by writing pen pal letters in the beginning of the process and presenting the final alphabet book to the Kindergarten class.
Objectives Cont. • Students will develop their spatial intelligence by creating a drawing as visual support for the final classroom alphabet book.
Objectives Cont. • Students will develop their interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligences while they act as a role model for the younger children.
Day 1 • Introduce curriculum • Importance of reading • Kindergarten partner • Pen pal letters
Discussion Questions for the Teacher: The importance of reading. • Why do you think you learn how to read in school? • When do you think children should start learning how to read? Do you think Kindergarten is too early? • When did you first learn how to read? Who taught you? • Do you read outside of school? • Why is it important to do so? • How will reading help you in the future?
