KOSOVOPROJECT 2001 • Following the end of the war in Yugoslavia, much of the railway equipment, especially the locomotives, could not be placed into service. • RMR was asked by the United Nations (European aid and development branch) to evaluate the condition of the locomotive fleet and make recommendations as to the best solution on how to start with a project to have the locomotives repaired and returned to service. • The RMR technical team submitted a list of material and expertise required to repair the locomotives. RMR was selected to supply the parts, and upon request, to fly technical experts into Kosovo to oversee and instruct the mechanical team put together by the local government and the railroad. • RMR was selected to be the supplier of spare parts on the basis of presenting the lowest cost to supply OEM and aftermarket components. • Today, most of the locomotives selected by the RMR team to be repaired have been returned to service.
