~contains two or more independent sentences
~think of mini-sentences usually combined by conjunctions (and, but, for, or, so, yet)
Example:
No one was injured in the fire, several homes were destroyed, many trees burned down.
3. What is it? Break it down… What is a complex sentence?
~contains one independent clause and at least one subordinate clause (adjective or adverb)
~Remember: adjective clauses describe nouns usually with a relative pronoun (who, whose, which, that)
~Remember: adverb clauses describe verbs usually with subordinating conjunctions (after, since, as, because, when)
Examples:
~The boy is my cousin.
~ I usually think of Little Wayne.
