Skills Crosswalk • Why? • To provide a standard training program for structural-to-wildland suppression personnel • Provides a learning resource guide for structural firefighters to develop wildland firefighting knowledge and skills.
Skills Crosswalk • Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) • Responsible for: • Ensuring and certifying that a FF has satisfied Crosswalk requirements • Conducting testing and assessments to ensure FF has knowledge and ability to safely perform required skills. • Completing a thorough evaluation of the firefighter’s overall suitability for wildland firefighting position certifications attained through the Crosswalk process. The AHJ assumes considerable professional responsibility in this determination.
Skills Crosswalk • Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) Cont’d • Responsible for: • Issuing qualifications cards (RED Cards) as locally appropriate • Maintaining documentation or supporting certifications for all personnel using Crosswalk
Skills Crosswalk The designated AHJ must base an individual’s position certification decisions on a thoughtful and comprehensive consideration of their training, experience, and demonstrated performance. The AHJ, in close coordination with the firefighter, must practice due diligence in accurate documenting training and experience.

Skills Crosswalk • Non-Supervisory Structural Firefighter: Advanced (FFT1) Prereq: FFT2 • FFT1 Qualifications • S-131 Fireline Reference Materials • S-231 Unit 3 • S-212 Unit 2, 3 • Maps and Compass Training • Successful Completion of NWCG Position Task Book for Firefighter 1 • 17.5 Hours
Skills Crosswalk • Company Officer • Meet FFT1 Qualifications • S-290 CD-ROM or Classroom • S-230 Unit 2, 4B, 4C, 6 • S-211 Unit 1D • S-231 Unit 1 • S-215 Unit 5A, 5B • Successful Completion of NWCG Position Task Book for Single-Resource Boss (Engine) • 44 Hours
