Japanese Green Tea • Green tea was discovered in 1241 by the Chinese Emperor . • There are 3 main types of tea which are: Green tea,Black tea and Oolong.
Japanese Green Tea (cont.) • Japan is the 7th largest tea producer in the world. • The top three green tea producers are China, Japan, and Taiwan.
Japanese Green Tea Ceremony • The ceremony is hosted in Chashitsu This room isusually located in the garden. • The maximum number of guest should be four.
Japanese Green Tea Ceremony (cont.) • The teishu fills the stone basin. • He purifies his hands and mouth. • Proceeding to the location where his guest are. • Bows at them and walks them to the Chashitsu • Guest have to purify themselves and bow before entering the room.
Physical Factors • Japan grows about 198 million lbs or 90 million kg of green tea each year. • Green tea grows in tropical and subtropical climate. • Elevation of 3,000-7,000 feet or 900-2,100 meters to grow.
Physical Factors (cont.) • Shizuoka Prefecture is responsible for producing half the green tea consumed in Japan. • The temperature needs to be 34 degrees Celsius.
Human Factors • The people sell the tea at : • $42.50 for 200 g. • $22.00 for 100 g. • Farm sizes vary according to different producers.
Human Factors (cont.) • The leaves are steamed and dried naturally to the point that they can be rolled into various shapes until they are completely dry and then they are packed. • Teas are shipped out of Japan, to ship only the freshest teas
