  2. The Mission The International Center for Clubhouse Development is a global network creating opportunities for people living with mental illness to be respected members of society. ICCD 2003

Our Beliefs • Recovery is possible. • Clubhouses provide an environment that is restorative and promotes recovery. • Every society has a responsibility to support and include people with mental illness. • Clubhouses are possible everywhere. • Every community has people who are willing to help.

ICCD October 2004 Worldwide Clubhouse Community:Global Distribution North America: 219 Clubhouses Europe: 68 Clubhouses Asia: 11 Clubhouses South America: 0 Clubhouses Africa: 1 Clubhouse Australia/New Zealand: 13 Clubhouses Worldwide Clubhouse Community Serving more than 55,000 men and women living with mental illness.

ICCD Board of Directors • 22 Directors from Denmark, England, Finland, Japan, Sweden, United States representing legal, academic, business, government, mental health services (including clubhouse members), and private citizens • The governing body of the ICCD. The Directors include prominent individuals from the international community who believe deeply in the mission of the Center and can contribute to its support and success. • It is a voluntary board

Faculty for Clubhouse Development • Approximately 100 active members and staff from certified clubhouses • Certification is their work Sub-committees of the Faculty *Standards Review Committee *Certification Review Committee (Appeals) *Employment Committee (Guidelines) *Certification Process Committee (Reports)

  10. Clubhouse Advisory Council • 30 members and staff from ICCD certified clubhouses from around the world • Provide advice to ICCD team and board regarding current trends and future planning • Meet once per year in New York • Discuss many issues via the internet

ICCD Training Base Group • 11 Strong ICCD Certified Clubhouses • 5 in USA and 6 outside USA • 1 in Asia (Taiwha Fountain House-Seoul) • Each provides 3 Week Basic Clubhouse Training Program (equivalent curriculum) • Offer “Special Track” 1 week Trainings • Review, evaluate and improve training programs

Clubhouse Research Network Program for Clubhouse Research (located at the University of Massachusetts Medical School ) • Clearing house for all clubhouse research • Library of Clubhouse articles and papers • Technical Assistance on Research • Conducts original research • Promotes and coordinates clubhouse research at clubhouses around the world • Maintains a “Research Advisory Committee” of respected researchers and clubhouse people

  15. Some facts about clubhouses • Almost 400 clubhouses in 30 different countries • 20 new clubhouses opening each year • 318 clubhouses belong to the International Center for Clubhouse Development (ICCD) • 150 ICCD Certified Clubhouses

  16. clubhouse facts continued…. • ICCD clubhouses have an average budget of about (USD) $430,000 per year • ICCD Clubhouses have an average of 150 active members (at least once per month) • Average daily attendance is 45 members

  17. clubhouse facts continued…. • ICCD clubhouses have 40% of the average daily attendance employed in Transitional, Supported and Independent Employment • Most Clubhouses are open at least six days per week and two evenings and all public holidays • Typical member staff ratio is 1/15 (staff to active member)

Primary Forms of Clubhouse Employment • Transitional Employment (TE) • Time-limited opportunity (6-9 mo); Position belongs to clubhouse; Clubhouse develops & maintains relationship w/ employer; provides onsite training & support; & back-up coverage. • Supported Employment (SE) • Not time-limited; Position belongs to member; Competitive interview; Clubhouse develops & maintains relationship w/ employer, assists with job site development & training; FT/PT; no absence coverage. • Independent Employment (IE) • Not time limited; Position belongs to member; FT/PT; Clubhouse does not commit to formal relationship w/employer or provide absence coverage; Clubhouse assists with career development, job search, and on-going support (e.g. employment dinners).
