A strong involvement with neurosurgical education has been maintained by his position on the RACS Board of Neurosurgery and the Board of the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia for the past 15 years, serving as president from 2013 to 2014. Macquarie Neurosurgery The Macquarie University Neurosurgery Unit is one of the largest academic neurosurgery groups in Australia. § We work closely with the interventional neuroradiologists at Macquarie University Hospital in the management of neurovascular cases. § Our patient centric, multidisciplinary approach ensures risks and alternatives have been considered when establishing a care plan. §

Neurosurgery Spine More recently, he has been involved in several clinical research projects relating to improving the management of brain tumours. This work has arisen through collaboration with researchers from Macquarie University’s clinical psychology department, and the physics department. Future projects will involve researchers from the neuropsychology, radiology, neuro-ophthalmology, and physiotherapy departments. § § §

Sydney Spine Our practice is now exclusively in adult spine surgery, focusing on complex deformity, fusion, non-fusion and minimally invasive spinal technologies in Sydney spine. § He has invented and commercialized several spinal retractors to reduce retraction injury and holds several patents for retractors and spinal implants. § His academic interests include retractor technology and investigating new surgical techniques and technology for less invasive spinal surgery. §

Brain Surgeon Our research group is studying syringomyelia and brain aneurysms, and is developing new treatments for brain surgeon. § Our research is supported by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC). § In addition to postdoctoral researchers and research assistants, the unit supports 5 PhD students. §
Neurosurgeon Sydney The Macquarie University Neurosurgeon Sydney Unit is one of the largest academic neurosurgery groups in Australia. § It includes nine neurosurgeons and a dedicated neurosurgery research laboratory. The unit has subspecialty interests in vascular neurosurgery, spinal surgery, tumour surgery, and radiosurgery. § neurosurgery is a major focus of the group, both clinically and in the laboratory. §
