  1. Making Sure You Protect Yourself While Shooting Soldiers, military personnel and the armed forces all know that shooting under pressure can cause, at times, undue stress. The well-trained individual, one with knowledge, has the experience of how to handle these situations, more so than their counterpart that also loves guns and rifles, but mainly for leisure and reasons of relaxation and taking part in shooting competitions. The latter group may not always have the know- how to understand how to protect themselves from all the stress caused by the hunting environment as they stalk their deer or take part in wingshooting, or during their hours as they take part in a shooting competition. All of these people, the casual hunter and the professional soldier, share a certain interest or passion in shooting, whether they love long range shooting or the shorter distances.

  2. There are quite a number of options, and the individual is given the opportunity to live out their passion as they hunt – or when they serve their country in the military or take up a position in the armed forces. All of these people handle rifles and/or guns, and they need to be well prepared for their sporting activity – or their chosen career. Therefore it is important, firstly, to receive proper instruction in terms of which you get to know your rifle or gun, what its parts are and how to maintain it. You also need to be taught about ammunition and all relevant processes to ensure you know how to hunt – or shoot, also in combat situations, if you are a soldier, or if you are a member of the local police force. The same goes for the casual enthusiast or professional hunter. All of this will help the individual to know how to behave and also how to protect themselves, under all circumstances. But, secondly, under certain special circumstances additional precautions or rules will apply. Take, for example, the shooter that uses a suppressor, whether that is the professional soldier or a precision shooter that spends a long day at the range. The suppressor, or silencer for some, or indeed sound suppressor/moderator is that muzzle device that greatly reduces the effect and harsh sounds of gun or rifle fire for the user. Good shooters, such as the precision shooter wants to know they do everything in their power to be on target every time, also those that use a suppressor. Nothing must stand in their way of hitting target all the time. Hunters and shooters often report of issues with, for example, mirage distortions as they shoot. In short this refers to distortions of objects at distance – such as hunter’s prey or targets during combat - that take place as your suppressor heats up. Mirage distortions, just like windy conditions and other issues may lead to the shooter missing their target. Therefore mirage, among some issues, should always be taken into account by the shooter. One way for precision shooters is to add protection to their rifle to help ensure the rifle is protected from the effects of distortion – such as by mirage (displaced images of objects at distance) – which will cause the shooter to miss. Therefore, to aid the shooter not to feel the effects of mirage as the suppressor warms up during repeated firing, suppressor wraps are used on the suppressor.

  3. Its offers a dual function: your hands are protected from the heat that builds up on the suppressor as you fire repeated shots, and the effects of possible mirage as the suppressor warms up, are neutralized. This wrap is very popular among many shooters whether they simply enjoy a day on the range, prepare themselves for duty or practice for – even take part in – combat. Suppressor wraps are used by many and is often seen as a great aid towards protecting yourself, your hands, your accuracy from the effects of excessive heat on your rifle or suppressor, and for some it is important, just as taking shooting and self defence classes are.
