  3. Genre Folktale: Folktales are stories that were originally passed down by word of mouth before they were written down. This story takes place in Uganda, which is now an independent country in Eastern Africa.

  4. Selection Summary “This is an African Folktale about a cunning, deceptive dog and an upstanding leopard who thinks and acts like a human. The succinct plot is filled with rapid exchanges as Leopard catches in to Dog’s chicanery and Dog moves on toward his destiny.” Open Court
