Advance GPS System for Non GPS Network. https://entrance.chekrs.com/
Introduction to GPS • GPS stands for Geographical Positioning System. • It is use to detect position of other GPS enabled devices. • GPS system needs GPS Signal transmitter and a receiver which can catch the signals from transmitter . • The signals are analyzed and GPS maps shows the location of that transmitter. • This system needs a GPS Network in the whole traffic network. • A full GPS network is unable to establish in our country due to un-awareness of GPS System.
Introduction to Sonar System • It is a system which detects the obstacle with emitting low frequency sound waves known as infra sound and then detecting the time span of returning the echo of the sound. • Today it is used in marines to detect the obstacle and the fish in way.
Working of Sonar System • Sonar consists of transmitter, transducer, receiver and display. • In sonar An electrical impulse from transmitter will be converted into sound wave by transducer and it will be through to the earth’s surface. • To display obstacle When this wave strikes to an object it will rebounds. This echo strikes the transducer, which converts it back into an electric signal. This signal is then amplified by the receiver and sent to the display.
Types of sonar https://schools.chekrs.com/
Single Beam sonar • Traditional sonar is referred to as single beam sounding. • The beam width of most single beam sounders varies between 10 and 30 degrees.
Side Scan Sonar • Side scan sonar, like a single beam sounder, transmits sound energy and thereafter analyzes the strength of the return signal that has bounced off the seafloor or other objects.
Multi-Beam Sonar • As its name implies, multi-beam sonar employs a multitude of individual sonar beams to ensonify the seafloor • Multi-beam, or swath, sonar systems provide fan-shaped coverage of the seafloor (similar to side-scan sonar), but the output data is different. • Instead of continuously recording the strength of the return echo, the multi-beam system measures and records the time for the acoustic signal to travel from the transducer to the seafloor and back.
Merging GPS to sonar system After reading all the types of sonar we can easily understand about the right sonar system for our road vehicles navigation. Selection of Sonar System type The single beam can only cover up to 30° of area from the device . • Multi-beam sonar which is an array of single beam sonar which spread the waves 30° each. • We can use an array of three single beam transducer in our car. • Each transducer can cover 30° of area. • Combining all we can cover approx 90°(30°-30° on both side and 30° in front) .
Advance GPS System enabled with sonar technique
Conclusion In this paper it is found that if sonar technology could be merged with GPS systems, it may produce great results and may avoid many accidents due to obstacles which are not shown instantly on the Highway road. This is also found that this combination is more useful with non-GPS Systems.
