  5. OUR LEGACY SeedWorks was established in 1998 by Dr. BalajiNukal a well-known veteran in seed industry and Wand Partners, an US based PE fund. DrBalajiNukal is a PhD in Genetics and Plant breeding from Texas A&M University, College Station, TX, USA. He started his career as a plant breeder in ICI &  served as Managing Director at Sun Seeds before his association with SeedWorks and has built a company focused on creating ‘prolific, commercially successful breeding programs’. The company started with vegetables seeds and achieved market leadership in okra and tomato crops . SeedWorks entered field crops business with the introduction of  hybrid rice seeds in 2006 and entered hybrid cotton seeds in 2011. SeedWorks grew the vegetable seed business over the years and became India’s largest domestic vegetable seed company. In June 2015 Bayer acquired SeedWorks vegetables seed business.
