FIRST GENERATION SCIEx • Low Country Information Technology Improvement Project (ITIP) located in Charleston, S.C. Area • Project Management performed by the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center Southeast (NLECTC – SE)
NLECTC Mission • To serve as an honest broker, providing technology information, assistance and expertise to the nation’s law enforcement, corrections, and criminal justice communities
ITIP Goals • Create Central Warehouse to Facilitate Data Sharing Between Tri-County Agencies • Provide Agencies with a Tool to Track Criminals Across Jurisdictional Boundaries • Share Information as Close to Real-Time as Possible The Ultimate goal is to get the right information into the first responders hands as fast as possible
Keys to Success • Agency Participation • Agency ALWAYS Owns Their Data • Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Agencies • Established Governance Structure • Conduct Analysis on Agency RMS Systems to Map Data • Interpreted Findings for Working Group • System Testing and User Acceptance Testing with Assigned Agency Users
SCIEx IMPLEMENTATION • Adopting the ITIP project • Restricted Public Domain (Free To Law Enforcement) • Transferred grant to S.C. Research Authority (Parent organization of NLECTC-SE) to manage project • Develop Requirements and Hardware Configuration • Sell to Records Management Systems Vendors
