Suresh Desi Cow Ghee - 100% Organic and Natural. No Additives. No Preservatives. Switch to pure Desi Cow Ghee. In India, desi cow ghee used to be the preferred edible fat. Lately, it has come under a cloud— as it is a great content of saturated fatty acids and cholesterol is believed to be responsible for the increased pervasiveness of coronary artery disease in Indians. Almost for decades, the jar of desi ghee on our kitchen shelves came with a huge dollop of guilt. Now, it's making a comeback as a superfood in our diet.

  1. Desi Cow Ghee : Superfood or Saturated fat?

  2. Desi Cow Ghee : superfood or saturated fat? Ghee is one of the special superfoods that gives you the best of both worlds: it’s deeply rejuvenating, powerfully health-boosting and has out-of-this-world flavor. It should come as no surprise that it has been honored as a prized food in India for thousands of years. Ghee has a special place in Ayurveda as an ingredient for nourishment and healing, apart from its role in the daily rituals of cooking and worship. In fact, many Ayurvedic physicians consider ghee to be such a supreme health tonic that it is often recommended, in small doses, as the food given to a newborn child. BUT ISN'T FAT BAD FOR YOU? Let’s clear up the myth that (natural) fat is bad for you. Humans need fat to be healthy – it is actually essential for our bodies. The simplistic idea that eating fat makes you fat is completely wrong. Quality fats are ESSENTIAL to have in our diet and it’s very clear that our human physiology needs fats because every membrane of every cell and every organelle inside of cells are made of fats. Healthy bile release and a healthy gall bladder requires fat, the brain is comprised of 60% fat and even detox requires fat. Ghee can also enhance our immune system, as well as aiding in hormone and blood sugar balance

  3. But isn't ghee a saturated fat with clear issues for heart health? A study published in 2016 in the Journal of Clinical & Diagnostic Research set out to look at this belief. It looked at the heart health of 137 people across India and checked their consumption of ghee and mustard oil, and found that the results "do not support a conclusion of harmful effects of the moderate consumption of ghee in the general population, although it contains high level of saturated fat." Two studies on Indian volunteers, one in 2002 and another in 2005, suggest that if it makes up less than 10 percent of the diet, it has pretty negligible effects on cholesterol levels. Some people reacted differently, and the subjects were all vegetarians, young, and healthy. Evidence appears to suggest that if you want some form of saturated fat in your diet, ghee is the best option for you. High levels will still hurt your heart, though, so keep it to a minimum, and you'll hopefully enjoy its deliciousness without encountering health difficulties.

  4. HOW TO USE GHEE IN EVERYDAY LIFE Sautee your leafy greens, onions, garlic, tomato, mushrooms and other vegetables in ghee, it's a beautiful fat that add so much flavour to your food ➢ Swap it for margarine spreads and refined oils ➢ Roast your vegetables and/ or meat in it ➢ Make my Crispy Broccoli Chips ➢ You can use it in any savoury or sweet recipe that requires oil or butter ➢ Add some ghee and toss it through some steamed veggies ➢ Add it to Cauliflower Puree ➢ Use it as a leg moisturiser with a few drops of essential oil ➢ Drink with warm water in the morning for acidity ➢

  5. REASONS TO USE GHEE INTO YOUR DIET Ghee contains reasonable amounts of omega fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. It is believed to offer the following benefits during pregnancy, but most of these lack scientific support. Helps baby development: You will require about 300 extra calories per day during your second and third trimesters, for your baby’s development. Ghee can helps in the baby’s growth and their brain development. ● Treats digestive issues: Ghee has anti-viral properties and plays a crucial role in keeping the digestive system healthy. It contains high amounts of a fatty acid called butyrate that plays a role in gut health. ● Nurtures the body: Moderate consumption of ghee gives a feel-good mood and relieves stress. It is one of the natural ways to nourish the body and keep it warm and strong. ●

  6. IT’S PACKED FULL OF FAT-SOLUBLE VITAMINS (A, D, E, K) : Fat-soluble vitamins are absorbed with fat and stored in the gastrointestinal tract — and they are essential to maintaining a healthy metabolism and required for so many different biochemical processes within the body. Vitamin A and E have been shown to act as powerful antioxidants, and Vitamin A and D are critical in immune function as well as in bone health and development. Ghee also contains a uniquely absorbable form of Vitamin D that helps with the proper functioning of the synapses in the brain. Vitamin A plays an essential role in our liver health, fertility, hormone balance and long-lasting energy. Ghee also contains Vitamin K2 which is essential for the body to help utilise minerals, including calcium. Pretty amazing right?!? ● IS A GREAT SOURCE OF BUTYRATE Butter and ghee are great sources of naturally occurring butyrate in our diet. Butyrate, or butyric acid, is a short-chain fatty acid that acts as a detoxifier, it’s anti-inflammatory and improves colon health. It’s been shown to support healthy insulin levels and may be helpful for individuals suffering from IBS, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Basically ghee is great for your gut! ● IT HAS A STABLE SHELF-LIFE Ghee can stay in your kitchen pantry for up to a month once it has been opened, and it lasts in the fridge for about 7 months. This is due to the lack of moisture in the oil. Be sure to store your ghee in a sealed jar away from heat. ●

  7. IT’S ANTI-INFLAMMATORY It’s a great source of cholesterol. Cholesterol is a healing agent in the body, cholesterol levels increase during periods of stress or when inflammation occurs, so when we provide the body with good quality fats such as ghee, it helps the body to address this inflammation. ● AIDS WITH HORMONE BALANCE We must consume sources of cholesterol-rich saturated fats like ghee to provide the building blocks for sex hormones, including testosterone, oestrogen and progesterone. The cholesterol, vitamin A and vitamin K2 found in ghee also plays an important role in hormone synthesis and toxin detox. ● EASILY DIGESTIBLE Ghee is very easy to digest. Because ghee is free of casein and other milk solids, it is a great option for people with sensitivities to dairy. Butyrate helps support a healthy digestive tract and decreases inflammation. ● AIDS WITH DETOX Fats, and especially omega-3 fatty acids, are strong natural antioxidants and are used to eliminate petrochemicals, pesticides and heavy metals. Both are high sources of butyric acid—the primary energy source for the gut that helps to reduce inflammation. By stimulating bile release, good sources of saturated fats like butter encourage detox, balanced hormones and weight loss. ●
