Amazon is opening its first cashier-less grocery store outside of its hometown of Seattle. Amazon has gone live with Amazon Go, a cashier less convenience store concept, and several other retailers. Cashier less shopping may expand to other retailers because of tap to go technology and other apps.

Yes, it is the reality – this new “Tap-To-Go” shopping technology is all about to just tap on the products and pick and moving ahead to the exit. Cashierless Shopping utterly change the whole shopping pattern altogether makes a huge impact on the retail unit segment. Amazon Go already introduced cashierless shopping experience for the US customers but it has only available in 4 stores in a moment. So, what is Tap-to-go technology? And how it works?
“Tap-To-Go” Technology This new technology relief customers while in the line to avoiding the checkout process and makes the shopping more seamlessly by just pick, tap and go experience with the tap-to-go card or with an android app and later on it will be also available for iOS and for Windows. Cashierless shopping stores offer customers to select any products that they want, from the shelves and use the card to tap on the product’s tag to shop. After 10 minutes of tapping on the electronic tag, the exact amount will be automatically debited from the customer’s account. It uses near-field communication (NFC) technology and beeps and lights up in the green color in the edges after a tap. Every products and shelves have its own barcode and price tag. And, if any shopper will change their mind after some time to return the product then just simply put on right shelves and tap again on the same electronic tag with the card, this time the
light will turn up into the red color with beep sound. After a couple of minutes, the chargeable amount will be credited into the shopper’s account. Dutch international retailer – Ahold Delhaize, with having 35 supermarkets brand around the world, announced it would use tap-to-go technology in its Albert Heijn stores, is a supermarket chain. The company’s General Manager Jan Willem Dockheer shares his insight, “We want to offer our customers plenty of choice, quality and convenience anytime and anywhere and with the help of “Tap-To-Go” technology, we really bring that convenience to the next level.” This new technology will enhance the whole shopping experience and completely cut the extra time to invest in a line for checkout. But, along with it also creates unemployment as many cashiers will be going to be jobless.
