  1. Standard FIBC Bag vs. Baffle FIBC Bag How Are They Different? Polypropylene (PP) is woven into a flexible fabric to make FIBC (Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers) bags, also popularly known as jumbo bags, big bags, or super sacks. These bags, as the name suggests, are widely used for bulk storage and transportation, particularly of solid and dry, flowable materials. FIBCs are available in a range of customizable dimensions and storage capacities, depending upon the type of product that will be stored in these. Structurally, Jumbo Bags can be either Standard FIBCs or Baffle FIBCs.

  2. What are Standard FIBCs? Standard FIBC bags, though does not necessarily have a standard size or dimension, are structurally flexible. These bags tend to bulge out along the middle when filled. Thus, these standard FIBCs somewhat assume the shape of a pear after being loaded, making it inconvenient to stack up in storage or during transportation.

  3. What are Baffle FIBC Bags? Baffle FIBC bags have additional panels of fabric called Baffles, sewn into each corner. These extra fabric panels reinforce the structure of the FIBCs and help them retain their shape even after these are loaded with products. As a result, it is much easier to stack or line up baffle bags for storage or transportation.

  4. What are the differences between Standard FIBCs & Baffle Bags? It is evident from the structural difference alone that Baffle FIBC bags are a step above the Standard FIBC Bags. While Standard FIBCs are truly flexible and take the shape of whatever material these are filled with, Baffle FIBCs are more rigid owing to the panel reinforcement along the sides. This is the reason why baffle bags are a sturdier and more convenient choice than standard FIBCs. Since Baffle Bags are capable of holding their shape even after being filled, they stack up neatly in a cubic form. On the contrary, the circular shape of Standard FIBCs limits the stacking capability. Handling Baffled FIBCs is also easier than standard bags which tend to bulge out when filled.

  5. What are the differences between Standard FIBCs & Baffle Bags? Moreover, neat stacking means baffle FIBCs take less space to store. In transportation too, more baffle bags can be packed in a single vehicle, thus effectively reducing transportation costs. The same cannot be said about Standard FIBC Bags. Standard FIBCs take up more space, which makes storing and transporting materials in them less cost-effective than Baffled FIBC Bags. The final point of difference between the two FIBC types is that they are applicable for different types of products. Standard FIBCs are more suited when it comes to storage and transportation of materials like sand, gravel, and crushed rock aggregates used for construction.

  6. Conclusion Baffle FIBC Bags are better suited for the purpose of storing fine powder-like materials such as flour, cement and high end chemicals. At Umasree Texplast, we manufacture both standards and baffled FIBCs to the highest global standards and also offer a range of useful customizations to cater to the unique needs of our clients.
