  2. GRE SCORE VALIDITY Duration: GRE scores valid for 5 years from the test date. Comparison: Longer validity compared to TOEFL and IELTS. Result Time Frame: Scores declared within 15 days. Start of Validity: Begins from the test day. Example: GRE on Dec 20, 2023; result on Jan 5, 2024; valid till Dec 20, 2028.

ETS acknowledges the potential for applicants to develop enhanced skills within a 5-year period. Expiring scores serve as a measure to control the number of candidates with valid GRE scores. The expiration of GRE scores ensures the exam remains challenging, fostering continuous improvement among test- takers.

GRE Score Expiry: Following the 5-year validity, GRE scores expire, rendering them unusable for resumes, college admissions, visa applications, and other purposes. Limited Access: Expired GRE scores become inaccessible on official GRE platforms. However, if saved externally, you can retain a copy, though it holds no practical value. Retake Option: After the GRE score validity expiry, you can retake the GRE exam. GRE doesn’t limit you from taking the GRE exam again and again.
