Butterfly Swimming Strokes • Stay Horizontal: Fast butterfly means keeping a slim profile in the water. Focus on swimming across the water, not up and down and through. • Keep Your Chin Low: When your surface to breath your chin should ride the surface of the water. This will help you keep that low profile we talked about. • Pull Back, Not Down: Focus on pulling the water back and pushing your way across the pool instead of down . When we pull down we waste our energy creating lift instead of propulsion.
Recovery=Relaxed Arms: Butterfly is difficult for beginners because they are unable to relax during recovery. This comes with practice, flexibility in your shoulders, back and chest. • Keep Your Face Down: When breathing make sure you are facing bottom of the pool.
