Introducing Advantech’s NewWebOP-2000T Series The Advantech WebOP-2000T is an enhanced series of hardware platforms, adding broader capabilities to the popular WebOP-2000V Series allowing many new features to be added to the PM Designer free software. FAQ: Will the WebOP-2000V be phased out? No. There is no planned obsolescence for either series. However, no future enhancements will be added to the PM Designer software for the WebOP-2000V. The current version of the PM Designer, 1.2.93 will support both the T and V Series. But the future release of 1.3 with many new features will only support the newer T series. FAQ: What is VNC? VNC stands for Virtual Network Computing. It is simply a method of gaining remote desktop access to a host computer from a client computer. There are several familiar VNC-like software programs. Microsoft’s RDP, or Remote Desktop Protocol, is sometimes used by tech support to take control of a user’s Windows platform for troubleshooting. Advantech also offers DiagAnywhere allowing users to find all Advantech hardware on a network and remotely log into the operating system. VNC describes an open source approach to a wide variety of hardware platforms and operating systems. The WebOP-2000T Series hardware is equipped with a VNC server or host. VNC implementations typically only allow a single client log on. Adding VNC makes the WebOP . . . “Web”. Confidential – Advantech Partners - 15 -
