  3. Literacy: Reading Reader’s Workshop: Making Meaning Gives children the chance to read and listen to stories through authentic text at their level with identified goals and guidance from teacher. • Independent Reading • Guided Reading • Shared Reading • Read Aloud/Read To

Literacy: Reading • Mentor Texts: Making Meaning and teacher selected • Chosen to support student growth around the reading skill that we are studying. • Reading Groups • Small, focused, weekly groups conducted with children using Benchmark Reading Texts and other high quality text for the children to practice reading at or above their reading level with built in scaffolds. • Daily Teacher Read Aloud • Demonstrates the enjoyment found in reading a chapter book • Exposes students to new vocabulary, higher level of reading material, models reading with expression • Reader’s Theater • Excellent practice for reading in front of an audience, building self confidence in reading and reading with expression.

How can you help in math? • Understand that students are learning math in a way that will prepare them for the higher demands of college and careers today and in the future – focused math skills and real-world, challenging problems • Read the Parent Roadmap for your child’s grade level • At the beginning of each module, read the Parent Tip Sheet to get an overview of the topics your child will be learning and how you can support this learning at home • Recognize that Eureka Math lessons can be customized by teachers to meet the varying needs of students

  13. Homework Expectations • Reading - 15 minutes of reading • Math - 5 Minutes of Eureka Math as assigned • Fridays only- Share Journal and bring it back to school signed • Unfinished Work at times

  14. Behavior Expectations C-23 has a very positive environment.
