  1. The Inheritance of the Covenants Clinton, AR Study Weekend – March, 2006

  2. The Legal Aspects of God’s Promises • I Chronicles 16:15-19 – “Be ye mindful of His Covenant; the word which He commanded to a thousand generations; Even of the covenant which He made with Abraham, and of His oath unto Isaac; And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant, Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance; When ye were but few. Even a few and strangers in it. Psalms 105:8-12 is very similar. • Hebrews 6:13-17 – For when God made promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no greater, He sware by Himself, Saying, “Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.” And so, after he patiently endured, be obtained the promise. For men verily swear by the grater; and an oath for confirmation is to them on end of all strife. Wherein God, willing more abundantly to show unto the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us; which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast…

  3. The People of the Inheritance – The Exclusivity of the Promises O F F A I T H OF ADAM OF ABRAHAM OF ISAAC OF JACOB OF CHRIST ETERNAL LIFE

  4. The Blessings of the Covenants • We are justified from the Adamic Condemnation of eternal death that all mankind is sentenced into. • We are justified from the personal sins committed prior to coming “into” Abraham and his covenant. • We become part of the family of God, through adoption, and bear the name of the Father as His sons and daughters. • We inherit the privilege of approaching the Heavenly Father with prayer through our Great High Priest, the only mediator between God and man. • We have assurance of a resurrection to the Judgment Seat of the Judge of the whole earth. • We will receive a fair and righteous judgment for the things that we have done, whether good or bad. • If judged righteous, we will be provided a full and complete reconciliation with God and His Son. • We will be granted eternal life with the opportunity of bringing God praise and glory for eternity.

  5. Individuals not “In Christ” • They cannot receive justification from Adamic Condemnation. • They cannot receive justification from any personal sins committed. • They will never become part of the family of God. • They have no mediator to approach to God in prayer. • They have no assurance of a resurrection. • Therefore, they remain sentenced to the grave and eternal death.

  6. Requirements of the Covenant • Romans 6:4-5 – Therefore, we are buried with Him by baptism into death; that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death, we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection. • I John 5:3 – For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not grievous. • Jude 3 – Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful to me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith that was once delivered unto the saints. • I Corinthians 15:58 – Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

  7. O, Judah, long, long, hast thou lain, Wrapped in the gloom of the night, Rouse thou from slumber long and deep And Hail the dawning light. The somber shadows flee away, Before approaching morn, Zion, AWAKE, thy youth renew, Thy peerless strength, put on. The way leads through the trying fire, Unto the shining goal; But though the victor’s crown shall wear, In happiness untold. The haughty foe with lustful eye, Thy prosperous state shall view; And seek to take to him the spoil; The quiet land pass through. But to his final doom he goes, The conqueror’s might shall know; On Idumea’s fateful field, Shall fall, to rise no more. Behold, upon the mountain side, The swift advancing feet, Of Him that bringeth tidings good, Thy willing ear to greet. Rejoice! O Judah, yea, rejoice, Bid every fear begone; The foe is slain that sought thy hurt, Proud Gog is overthrown. Thine eye is lit with peaceful smile, Instead of gloomy frown; The rosy hue is on their cheek, O’er which the tear rolled down. “The Sceptre Shall Not Depart From Judah”

  8. “The Sceptre Shall Not Depart From Judah” cont’d “O Judah, keep thy solemn feast,” And all thy vows perform; The wicked pass through thee no more, And none shall do the harm. For lo, on David’s reset throne. Shall reign thy greatest King; And all to him in homage bow, AND EARTH WITH PRAISES RING.
