  2. COVENANT • An agreement • A solemn obligation bound by the superior (God) upon the inferior (man) • Relation of old and new covenants must be understood, 2 Cor. 3:12-15 (2 Tim. 2:15; Matt. 28:18, 20)

  3. A New Covenant AnnouncedJeremiah 31:31-34 • New to be distinct from the old, 31:31 • Days are coming (not the present one), 31:31 • Not like Mt. Sinai covenant, 31:32 (Heb. 8:6-9) • Nature of the new covenant: Better 31:33-34 (Heb. 8:6-8)

  4. A New Covenant AnnouncedJeremiah 31:31-34 • Christ’s death dedicated the New Covenant, Hebrews 9:15-17 • He fulfilled the law, Matthew 5:17; Romans 10:4 • He took away the first, Col. 2:14 (Eph. 2:14-15) • He established the second, Heb. 10:9
