2. Introduction • The main objective of AAP: • Steer Kenya towards climate change resilient development by strengthening institutional and systemic capacity and leadership to address climate change risks and opportunities through a national approach to adaptation

Achievements Studies supported and completed: • Integrated rehabilitation of Lake Naivasha Ecosystem • Intervention approaches and related costs towards rehabilitation of Lake Naivasha water catchment • Information used in the development of the Water Towers Master Plan ii) Gender mainstreaming strategy and guidelines • The guidelines shared in the National Climate Change Action Plan (NCCAP)Development Process iii) Climate Risk Assessment in Agriculture, Energy and Water sectors • The recommended adaptation actions informing the process of developing the National Adaptation Plan (NAdP) of the NCCAP

Achievements Development of the Kenyan Threshold 21 model including capacity building “A dynamic and quantitative tool for analysing multi-sectoral impacts of climate change, develop institutional and systemic capacity to manage climate change risks and facilitate development of mitigation and adaptation polices” • Trained core modelers • T21 unit operational in the MPND&V2030 • Model results informing: • National Climate Change Action Plan (Low carbon development pathway and NAdP) • The preparation of the Medium Term Plan (2013-2017), which will inform revised Vision 2030 for Kenya

14. Achievements WFP: • 413 energy saving stoves supplied in schools within 15 ASAL Districts. The stoves were installed on cost-sharing arrangement with the school covering 50% of the cost. • WFP has provided tree seedlings to four schools (includes fencing of the facilities). This will ensure wood supply in the future. Cost sharing element increase the ownership UNIDO: • Micro hydro power • Community governance structures simplified the decision making process and improved the ownership of the project by the community • Employment of community members improved working relations with the community • Cost sharing through partnership with local financial frameworks such as the CDF is important

15. Achievements UNIDO: • Energy for water security • Green charcoal for household energy substitution • Important to development sustainable business models that: • Enhance community ownership of the CPCs • Clearly defined community benefits • Provide for sufficient profits for the entrepreneurs • If possible the CPC design should take the form of a business park whereby criteria/guidelines are provided
