What are major religious beliefs of Islam, why did certain religious groups feel that the revolution against the Shah was necessary , and how does this belief impact the citizens of Iran, and/or the rest of the world? Maddie Hunt
Religious Beliefs • Majority is Islamic. • Which divide into two groups • the fundamentalists = traditional beliefs for the culture/religion such as women wearing black veils to cover their hair. • The more modern side = that it’s okay to be a little Americanized like driving Cadillacs and women leaving their hair out.
Why? • Some of the more traditional groups felt the Shah was corrupt. • They felt that non-Muslim leaders influenced too many of his decisions. • Because of this they felt they were losing their culture/traditions.
How It Made An Impact • As a result, it went against what the more “Americanized” citizens wanted. • The country wasn’t moving forward. • Also, other countries cultures weren’t being introduced.
