Agenda: We decided to discuss “How to achieve Excellence in professional education through • Curricula; • Relationship with Industry and Society; • Creativity and Innovation; and • Interdisciplinary approach.” Suggestions • Curricula: a) Regular updating with the feedback from i.Industry ii. Premier Institutes iii. Alumni and students. b) Review of Course’s Logical order c) Human & Environmental Issues ( Social responsibilities) d) Amalgamation of subjects at various level.
2. Relationship with Industry and Society: a) Industrial talk b) Industrial training for students c) Continuous touch with NGOs. d) Conduct training program for small industries and for those in society who are financially week and need some technical orientation. e) Consultancy to industries 3. Creativity and Innovation a) Presenting real time problems(structured and unstructured) to students and ask them to develop alternatives solutions. b) Be Open. 4. Interdisciplinary approach : a) Level-1.Program the case studies taken from other departments as far as possible. b) Level-2.( after completing 4th or 5th semester). Submit project proposal to a PANEL ( comprising of experts from various areas). PANEL will decide the pre-requisite subject which may be required to complete that project and ensure that either from parent institute or from industry/institutes linkage that student study all those subjects.
Problems and their solutions for given suggestions: 1.Curricula: a) Regular updation with the help of i.Industry ii.Top class Institutes iii. Feedback from alumni and students. [[? Changes are fast, we can not update curricula every year]] [[*Solution: say 80% Core+20% Electives based on current need]] b) Review of Courses Logical order [[No Problems]] c) Human & Environmental Issues ( Social responsibilities) [[ * add few Professional ethics courses and other related stuff in curricula or inject in as many subjects as possible like what we have done by injecting WT,SE in few courses]] d) Amalgamation of subjects at various level. [[No Problems]]

Interdisciplinary approach : [[ Team work with the faculty members of other department will be required. We suggest to form a dedicated cell of Senior faculty members to promote and mentor this cell]]
As you may observe, Most of the suggestions given, are not having any implementation issues. So, we can start doing this activities from today itself. Only thing which is required is “DEDICATION”. Thank You.
