What does the ‘Knowledge Economy’ mean? • The Knowledge Economy is about … • - The Systematic ACCUMULATIONof Knowledge • - The Knowledge INTENSIFICATION of all forms of Work • - The ORGANISATION of Knowledge Processes • - The COMMODITISATION of Knowledge Assets • The TRADE of those Knowledge Assets • This applies to ALL industry sectors … including: • - Farming (… PHarming and other production sectors …) • - Food Production (... Fuel, fibre and other processing sectors …)
Lets start with two observations … • 1:PROGRESS IS … a PROCESS of • - SPECIALISATION, • - FRAGMENTATION and • - INTEGRATION 2:Research is a Service Industry Sector and 3: Knowledge is a Global Commodity • What are the consequences of this for the TEAGASC 2030 in the KBBE? • What will ILR (Innovation, Learning and Research) systems look like in 2030?
