  2. Pakistan Studies curriculum is the name of a curriculum, academics research and study the culture, geography and politics of Pakistan.

  3. In Pakistan , according to National Education policy 1979, the subject Pakistan Studies is one of the three compulsory courses at the secondary school level of education.

  4. It is also taught as a degree course at most of the social sciences departments in many universities of Pakistan. Such universities provide degree programs of Pakistan Studies for in-depth studies.

  5. There are also a number of International organizations that are engaged in collaborative teaching, research and exchange activities on the subject.

  6. Scope of studying Pakistan Studies • Studying P. St. helps to know about International politics and role of Pakistan in it. • We can get to know culture of different areas of Pakistan. • What are the issues which Pakistan is facing and will face in its near future. • Job opportunities in foreign ministries.

Paper 1: The history and culture of PakistanTime : I hr 30 min • Three questions (25 marks each) from a choice of five. • There will be at least one question on each of the 3 sections of Syllabus Section A. • Each question will have 3 parts: • • • one part testing • knowledge • , set on a short stimulus source of three to five lines. A factual answer of • no more than one short paragraph is required. [4 marks] • • • one part testing • knowledge • and • understanding • (includes selecting relevant and appropriate • information). Answers require two paragraphs of writing. [7 marks] • • • one essay testing • knowledge • , • understanding • , and • analytical and evaluative ability • . This includes the • ability to synthesize information, the appropriate use of selected relevant examples and the ability • to compare and contrast. This question should be answered in continuous prose of two pages of • writing, not in note form. [14 marks]

Paper 2: The environment of Pakistan • 1 hour 30 mins • Three questions (25 marks each) from a choice of five. • Each question: • • will consist of three to five separate parts; each part may be divided into one or more sub-parts. • will require the ability to interpret and analyze resources in the question; these may be diagrams, graphs, maps, photographs, tables and written material. • will require the evaluation of information. Total 75 marks
