Medicine • The word medicine is derived from the Latinarsmedicina, meaning the art of healing • Medicineis the applied science or practice of the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.[1] It encompasses a variety of health care practices evolved to maintain and restore health by the prevention and treatment of illness inhuman beings.

  3. Major Classification • The field of medical is the most desirable and respected profession in all parts of the world. • If we talk about Pakistan, then it is not a piece of cake to get involved in this field due to very high competition and high merit set by the medical institutions. • But, once you get through with your education of medical the life gets easier. No matter in which country you’re settled in, all the hard work and determination towards studies will definitely pay off. • This is the beauty of this profession because it really takes you from bottom to top.

  4. Major Classification • MBBS (Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery),BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) and Pharm.D ( Doctor of Pharmacy/Medicine) are the very common medical education which is provided in Pakistan. • Even students in Pakistan give more preference to the mentioned above degrees. MBBS is a 5 year degree where the candidate is turned into a general doctor and physician whereas; BDS is a year program where candidate becomes a dental doctor A Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) is a professional doctor degree in pharmacy. • These are the three education areas in medical where Pakistan is highly equipped and promises a great deal to promote and grow the level of education.

  5. Major Classification • BDS and MBBS & Pharm.D graduate are definitely the most respected and desirable professions not only in Pakistan but all over the world. Doctors in Pakistan are treated as the divine human beings and a blessing from the Almighty God. • If you wish to earn respect in the society and at the same time you wish to live a prosperous life financially/economically than this is the right profession to get in. • This is not something new for the people to hear, the demand and the respect provided to the medical degree holders in totally different than any other profession in the world. • MBBS and BDS and Pharm.D are three professions where an individual can get in and make his life even better. In short, in Pakistan the score for medical education has always been rising and in demand. • The doctors of Pakistan are considered to be one of the best professionals in the world.

Which subjects are required for admission in Medical in Pakistan? • In order to get admitted in any of the medical college of Pakistan one must have passed HSSC Pre-medical or its equivalent exam (A' level, 12th grade) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as major subjects irrespective of the education system. 

  7. Q. Is there any authority to regulate medical education in Pakistan? • Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) cares for concerns of medical education in Pakistan. Basic criteria for admission, admission dates and pre-requisites are defined by PMDC. 

  8. Q. How many medical colleges are operating in Pakistan and are they of the same type? • There are 103 medical and Dental colleges operating in Pakistan. These are of two types: Government institutions and Private institutions. 

  9. Q. When does the admission process start in medical colleges? • Admission schedule is different for every province but usually it starts in July and ends in November except Aga Khan Medical University and NUST. These two institutions open their admission in May/June. 

  10. Q. What are the pre-requisites for admission in medical [MBBS/BDS/Pharm.D]? GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Age limit is abolished for admissions in medical education. • Foundation Of Science [Pre-Medical]. • Higher Secondary School Certificate. • Equivalent Certificate & Marks HSSC [If Foreign Qualification e.g. A' Level, 12Grads etc..]. • Subject Combination [English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology]. • Marks Min 660/1100 [Unadjusted] Or Equivalent. • Application Form Prescribed [3 Copies]. • Attested Photo Copies Of Documents. • 12 Photographs.
