The Goals ofTreatment & Rehabilitation • The treatment, rehabilitation, aftercare and social reintegration of the recovering addicts is to minimize the occurrence or relapse and help him or her to live contentedly in their environment without using or abusing drugs

Elements of a TREATMENT PROGRAMME • Detoxification • Assessment • Treatment Plan • Aftercare
TREATMENT AND REHABILITATION CENTRES • DETOX UNIT (UHWI) – 28 day programme of detoxification overlapping with treatment • PATRICIA HOUSE – 3 to 4 months residential programme based on the theraputic community principle • WILLIAM CHAMBERLIN – (Salvation Army) 4 to 6 months programme described as working theraputic community programme
TREATMENT & REHABCentres Cont’d • WARD 21 (UHWI) – 4 to 6 weeks programme both in and out patient; also deals with dual diagnosis • COUNSELLING SERVICES (venue CORNWALL REGIONAL HOSPITAL ) – offered by NCDA trained Substance Abuse Counsellor to outpatients and referrals from Drug Court System • NCDA COUNSELLING SERVICES – Referrals, Walk-Ins, Family Sessions, etc (Western Region) • Weekly NCDA Western Office – RADA Complex • Negril Drop Centre
TREATMENT & REHABCentres Cont’d • ADDICTION ALERT / R.I.S.E. (Reaching Individuals through Skills & Education) – offers telephone counselling and referral services • TEEN CHALLENGE – a one year programme which endeavours to help people become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well and spiritually alive • COMMUNITY GROUP HOMES – short term treatment programme for dual diagnosis patients . Eg – Ferdies House (Dr. Wendel Abel)
CLIENTS SEEN IN TREATMENT AND REHAB 1993-2003 • Total of 2,888 clients seen over five years • Crack/Cocaine – 1, 258 or 45% of clients seen (5 years) 2003 – 184 total (171 Males 13 Females) • Alcohol - 415 or 14% of clients seen (5 years) 2003 – 50 total (44 males 5 females) • Ganja - 935 or 32% of clients seen (5 years) 2003 – 199 total (186 males 13 females)
