BACKGROUND • Cooperative Agreement Number: 2006-MU-MU-K006 Foundation Proposal # WVHTCF-06-0004 • Develop a modular/reconfigurable vehicle to support first responders – non traditional users • Primary mission Recon/Surveillance – eyes on target quickly • T&E with selected units feed back to NIJ • Final Report • NIJ Program Managers – Mr. Chris Tillery and Ms. Cathy Girouard
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES • Develop a modular, light weight system for first responders – to be complimentary with current robots • Single chassis with interchangeable top plates supporting various missions • Modify EOD BomBot military IED/UXO counter-charge delivery system • Plug and play flexibility • Primary mission recon/surveillance • Training and User feedback • UHF digital radio on two units
Basic Expendable System - EOD • EOD BomBot • Government Design Developed by AFRL Robotics Group • Kit configuration 6 vehicles, 2 OCUs with spares kit • Detect and neutralize IED/UXOs - expendable with no logistics trail • Initial order for 309 kits with 483 spare vehicles • Additional USMC EOD for 29 kits • Government Program of Record • Issues sloppy suspension, poor video performance, 30 minute mission duration, OCU on tray easy to lose parts • Good idea no program flexibility for changes

Special Operations • SOFBot (UXO RCV –XM2) • Robotics R&D group modification for SOF customer funded by EOD/LIC for 14 kits • Kit configuration 6 vehicles with 2 OCUs • Primary use to detect and detonate IED/UXOs, again expendable with no logistics trail • Design Differences • military batteries – run time of over 2 hours • New video transmitter/receiver – range of 1200 feet LOS • drive train modifications; suspension locked in place, differentials, metal drive shafts and new transmission • Requirement generated by USASOC

XBot for NIJ Program • 12 prototypes with improvements • OCU in pelican case • New clutch assembly, metal drive shafts and chassis, 24 volt Maxxon motor, better steering, various configurations – EOD, Monitor, Enforcer and Search and Rescue • Two with WEUF radio systems and navigation module • New software allows hot swap of top plates • EOD - dump basket for delivering counter charge • Enforcer – Pepper Ball gun – riot/crowd control • Monitor – Scissors lift – recon/surveillance • S&R – low profile for under vehicle inspection and tight spaces • On GSA Schedule #
