The Homeland Security COE: • ·    Serves as system leader for all 34 Community and Technical Colleges • ·    Forms advisory committees and facilitates related meetings • ·    Provides logistics management for education and training programs • ·    Facilitates curriculum development in related programs across the system • ·    Researches and seeks funding sources at national, state and local levels • ·    Connects with fed/state educational resources across multiple disciplines • ·    Disseminates information and markets the COE

  14. Homeland Security Skill Panel Overview: Homeland Security-related employment opportunities are developing rapidly. An assessment of emerging skill sets for both incumbent and new workers is needed. Pierce College’s Center of Excellence has formed a skill panel that will research several industry disciplines to determine homeland security-related training needs and skill content.

Homeland Security Skill Panel Project Goals: • Goal # 1: Form and Convene Homeland Security Steering Committee, Skills Panel, and establish Skills Panel priorities. • Goal # 2: Identify current and emerging education and training programs in Homeland Security and related disciplines. • Goal # 3: Conduct a regional industry or "industry cluster" labor market analysis and publish/distribute results. • Goal # 4: Develop Plan to Identify Homeland Security Skills Sets related to basic requirements across disciplines
