ERTMS corridors in Europe 2005 – MoU: European Commission + European rail associations + UNIFE ERTMS implementation based on National Deployment Plans (2007), then unified into European Deployment Plan (2009). Aim: linking up major industrial areas, seaports with third countries.
ERTMS corridor F • Letter of Intent signed between PL & DE Ministers in November 2007 • the shortest and the most convenient connection between Eastern and Western Europe • Warszawa - Duisburg ~1143 km, freigth train run ~35h • Warszawa - Duisburg by road ~1100 km, truck drive ~30h • Terespol (Legnica) – Aachen ~2000km, mostlydouble-trackedline, mostlyelectrified (exceptfromshortsectionsinSaxony) • additional 300 km in BE and NL whenextended (connection to seaportsinAntwerpen and Zeebrugge)

Corridor F Corridor 8 EU Regulation 913
Regulation 913/2010 • This Regulation lays down rules for: • the establishment and organization of international rail corridors for competitive rail freight with a view to the development of a European rail network for competitive freight; • sets out rules for the selection, organisation, management and the indicative investment planning of freight corridors. • ‘freight corridor’ means all designated railway lines, including railway ferry lines, on the territory of or between Member States, and, where appropriate, European third countries, linking two or more terminals, along a principal route and, where appropriate, diversionary routes and sections connecting them, including the railway infrastructure and its equipment and relevant rail services in accordance with Article 5 of Directive 2001/14/EC
