Purpose • Increase knowledge and skills of health care providers who provide palliative/end of life care in Ct by enrolling a state wide target sample of Registered Nurses (RNs) to train them. • Provide an opportunity to incorporate recommendations of Assessing the Unmet Needs of Health Care Providers Using a Web-based Survey.
Purpose • Comprehensive and longitudinal follow-up to monitor dissemination of the training to a range of disciplines who work at different clinical settings.
Measures and Questionnaires • Pre-program ELNEC Application with Goals for Training. • End-of-Life Needs Professional Caregiver Survey (EPCS) before training and 6 months after training. • 6-month ELNEC survey and 12-month ELNEC survey to gather data on number of modules taught; number and type of health care providers taught; and to evaluate goals.
Preliminary Training Outcomes • Two-day training conducted on October 20 and 21, 2011. • 50 nurses attended both days of training. • 50 nurses were awarded ELNEC certificates and continuing education credits for attending the training.
