Despite marked differences in the Australian and United States’ systems, common ground exists – conspicuously; feminisation of the workforce and predicted workforce shortage (likely to be far greater in the US than Australia). Additionally both share the intention to maximise efficiency whilst encouraging comprehensive health care in the primary care sector, both governments aim to achieve this in part through funding structures. These two commonalities are the focus of this research project.
