  3. INTRODUCTION • Studying is not just reading the notes and getting good marks. • It is about acquiring knowledge and understanding what we study. • It is a process that begins in the classroom.

  4. BEFORE THE CLASS … -Prepare for the class. -Get all the necessaryrequirementsready. -Read whateveris to bereadbefore the class.

  5. WHILE IN CLASS … -Stay focus on the teacherwhilehe/sheisexplaining. -Take down all your notes. - Ask questions whereveryou have not understood. Do not beshy or feelashamed!

  6. AFTER THE CLASS … -Attempt all assignments. Get help if necessary. -Reviseyour notes preferably on the sameday.

  7. REVISING YOUR NOTES ORGANISATION -Get a suitable, quiet, well-lit place to study. -Choose a favorable time when noise and distractions are minimal.Ifyouchoose to get up during the night, avoideatingoilyfoodbeforegoing to bed!

  8. ORGANISATION (continued) -Tidy up your environment (put everything in order, get your books, pencil, rough paper, etc ready).

  9. TIME MANAGEMENT • Analyse the task and the time available. • Break down the task into little bits to be covered within specific time frames. • Allow short breaks between tasks to minimise stress and avoid overload (you can eat, discuss,play music, walk...)

  10. METHOD -Always have a pen or pencilbesideyou to note important points. -Write down questions that MUST beansweredafteryou have read(Objectives). -Read withthose questions in mind.

  11. METHOD (continued) -Revisewithpast questions. -Self evaluateyourselfregularly to see if you are meeting up withyour objectives. -Studywithfriends (Groups) -Getenoughrest(6-7 hours)

  12. METHOD (continued) • Reading aloudcan help. • Come out withmnemonics for easy remembrance. E.g. MR GREEN Use summaries and treediagrams to easily master yourmaterial
