8. Timing – July 2020 in metro areas (end 2019 in regional areas) • 72 Development Plans to 1 Code document • Zones – from 1500 to 50 • Overlays – about 30 overlays; primacy of policy in overlays • Delivery – online, 24/7, exact rules specific to site Planning & Design Code

9. Concerns around: • loss of vegetation and tree canopy • site coverage when existing buildings are replaced with more dense building forms, and • overshadowing and the loss of privacy. We will be proposing a range of solutions in the Code to improve residential infill such as: • a reduction in driveway set-backs and widths • deep soil provisions, and • the inclusion of design features in street-facing building facades. There are also 112 existing Contributory Items which are sited outside of what will automatically fall under the Local Heritage Area Overlay • These 112 will be dealt with on a one-on-one basis with the 10 relevant councils: • 43 Campbelltown • 20 Clare and Gilbert Valley • 19 Barossa • 14 Burnside • 8 Port Adelaide Enfield • 3 Mt Barker • 2 Charles Sturt • 1 Light Regional • 1 Unley • 1 Port Pirie Contributory Items outside of current HCZ

A single, state wide policy for the treatment of heritage areas and places • Heritage places will be accurately mapped in the state wide planning and design code and the state atlas • Transparent, certain and widely understood ways in which heritage and character properties can be utilised in the future • Better understanding of what constitutes character so that it can be preserved or enhanced • Proper protection for genuine heritage and a system that is fair for all property owners, neighbours and the community Benefits of proposed heritage and character changes

Collaboration with council planners right now on heritage and character overlay details • Collaboration with Phase 2 council planners now on Development Plan conversion to draft Code document format • All South Australians will have formal opportunities to have their say on these heritage and character policy positions during statutory consultation on the draft Code, currently planned for: 1. mid-2019 in regional council areas 2. late 2019 in metropolitan council areas • You are welcome to provide comment at all stages of consultation What are the consultation opportunities?
