Assessments were made every 3 months, then moved to 2 weeks when the patients health deteriorated
Caregiver general health status was measured by the Medical Outcomes Study 36-item Short Form (SF-36)
Psychological distress was measured by the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS).
Family caregiver burden was measured by the Zarit Burden Inventory.
Satisfaction with care was measured using the FAMCARE instrument
Patients social support was measured by The Medical Outcomes Study (MOS) Social Support Survey
4. KARNOFSKY PERFORMANCE STATUS SCALE DEFINITIONS RATING (%) CRITERIA The Karnofsky Performance Scale Index allows patients to be classified as to their functional impairment. This can be used to compare effectiveness of different therapies and to assess the prognosis in individual patients. The lower the Karnofsky score, the worse the survival for most serious illnesses.
