New Online COI Process Continued • Who needs to disclose online? • Principal Investigator all study team members who are responsible for the design-conduct-reporting of the research project • Research includes: human subjects research, basic research and animal research
New Online COI Process Continued • When should the investigator disclose? • When submitting a study for approval by review committees such as IRB, IACUC , etc. • When submitting a grant application to federal agencies such as NSF, NIH, AHA, etc. • Prior to commencing any type of research • Within 30 days from when the previously disclosed interests has changed • Within 30 days from new interests are acquired

USF Policy 0-309 Recent Changes Policy- 0-309: Individual Conflicts of Interest in USF System Research Project, (revised version recently promulgated) • Applies to ALL types of research whether sponsored or not, human subjects research, animal research, basic science research • Applies to ALL the investigators who work on a USF System Research Project
USF Policy 0-309 Recent Changes Continued • Applies to sub-contractors in limited situations • Nepotism in Research must be identified and managed, (no prohibition, but must be managed and adjustments be made to reporting lines if needed!) • Monitoring: a process to ensure management plans are being adhered to by the investigator
