WWII Terms • totalitarian regimes – governments with total control over their people • aggression – to act in a strong, bullying way • Appeasement – to give in to demands of an aggressor in hopes they will stop • Anschluss – German expressions for the joining together of all German peoples • Blitzkrieg – German for “lighting war” – aka “the blitz”, quick sustained attacks • Maginot Line – France’s fortified boarder with Germany • Luftwaffe – German air force • Auxiliary – additional, usually supportive • Lebensraum– German word for “living space” • RAF – “Royal Air Force” – British
