Introduction and background The policy of the Chamber is to without reference to colour of skin, race, gender, culture or religious conviction, attend to the interest of members as an a-political, non racial organisation and to: • Effect, maintain and promote an optimum free market system in a predominantly capitalist system; • Protect the interest of members as business persons and act as their representative

  5. Role of EXCO member • To serve the membership as a whole objectively, unbiased, no self serving motives • Uphold the integrity and improve status of PCOB Role of Chamber member • Pay Membership fees • Support the chamber • Attend events, make inputs and partake in events

  6. Vision A chamber where every business person wants to belong • Mission To serve as a unified voice for business without reference to colour of skin, race, gender, culture or religious conviction

Strategic Objectives • Attend to the interest of members in an a-political, non racial manner • Develop closer working relations between the chamber, its members and stakeholders • Enhance value add to members through effective networking opportunities and engaging on pertinent business issues within the province • Accelerate member recruitment with focus on SMME’s, women, youth and Students • Continuous entrepreneurship and skills development for members and their employees

Safety, Security & Liaison: Mr Mokone du Preez Objective • Ensure secure and clean business environment in the city  Program Activities • Engage in periodic meetings to monitor and alert members of crime awareness and crime techniques • Focus – cleanliness of the city, unlawful hawkers and street business, parking management • Membership participation and Feedback

Membership : Ms MboyaMsimango Accelerate member recruitment with focus on SMME’s, women, youth and learners Proposed strategies • Invite Woman, Smme and Youth formations to PCOB events • Represent PCOB at Woman, Smme and Youth events • Express business views on issues concerning Woman, Smme and Youth

Membership • Visit FET’s and Commercial colleges to promote PCOB and entrepreneurship • Get slot from member media organisations for promoting business knowledge, debating issues, writing articles and promoting PCOB • Encourage member businesses to come with incentives for PCOB members • Promote visibility and identity eg Membership Cards, Certificate, Blazer, Scarf etc

Membership • Introduce value add at social events such as soccer, cricket and rugby matches • Make membership qualification for awards at Gala dinner • Make 1 table for youth and 1 for Students at Gala dinner • Structure membership fees to have smme’s, students and youth fees • Make fees payable over maximum three months.

  16. Social Events : Mr Connie Bezuidenhout All social events shall serve as marketing and information sessions • Banquet • Date : 15 November 2012 • Venue: To be confirmed • 1Free table for Youth and 1 for Learners • Award excelling members • Golf Days: Around May and August

Administration : Mr Arthur Mongalo Objective: To Ensure that the chamber ‘s internal processes are not sub standard • Role • Source chamber operational funding • Acquire office equipment and tools • Manage chamber staff • Act as secretary at stakeholder meetings • Support function to other portfolio chairs • Manage the Website

  18. Social Events • Business card Networks ( Mosa Holomo) Host the Business Card Networking evenings every alternate month • Breakfast Sessions (Mosa Holomo) Will be hosted bi-monthly Invite speakers Rotate venue • Tourism Lunches (Casper) Hold a PCOB Travel Lunch 3 times per year

Tourism Promotion: Mr Casper Maré • Platform and link between LTA and Municipality, and PCOB Members in Tourism Sector . • Advice and consult with regards to tourism issues • Provide training opportunities within the Tourism Sector • Communicate • Statistics, Tourism Trends, Fedhasa Communications • The LTA events calendar. • Tourism Grading Council criteria and benefits • .

Tourism • Hold a PCOB Travel Lunch 3 times per year. • Networking opportunities among the tourism sector. • Involve the Airlines, Car Rentals, Travel Agents, Tour Operators, Events Companies, Hotels, B&B’s, Guest Houses, etc. • Raffle tickets and Great prizes (weekend packages, etc.) for charity fundraising. • Negotiate for special rates for PCOB members

  21. Training and Development: Erwin Middleton • Quality training initiatives for PCOB members and employees • Taking training to the business premises • Education and training for entrepreneurs • Educational content to be included on the PCOB website • Host quarterly business seminars
