Steps in the Systems Review Process • Review your teacher evaluation framework. • Identify direct or explicit connections. • Identify indirect or implicit connections. • Consider your professional learning plans, structures, initiatives, or offerings. • Identify direct supports. • Identify clear gaps. • Answer the three Questions for Consideration, and jot down any other thoughts in the Additional Notes.

Video Protocol • Identify a focus component/sub-dimension from instructional framework • Underline connections to focus component on core instructional practices handout • Identify looks fors • Take notes related to what teacher and students are doing and saying related to focus component in video • Discuss: • What practices are currently employed? • What is the teacher ready to work on? • Repeat with a different component from framework
Step 1: Framework Focus Component Take one minute to skim and scan framework component/sub-dimension • Danielson – Component 3b - Questioning and Discussion • Marzano – Element 2.1.5 and 2.1.6 • CEL 5D – Sub-Dimension SE1 - Quality of Questioning
Step 2: Core Practices Familiarize yourself with the Core Instructional Practices. Underline connections to focus component – 3b – questioning and discussion.
Step 3: Look Fors What might you see and hear teachers and students doing and saying in an 11th grade US History class that is addressing the literacy Common Core instructional practices related to the focus component/sub-dimension?
Preparing to Watch Video Lesson • Take notes specifically on the focus component or sub-dimension from your instructional framework. • What are students doing and saying? • What is the teacher doing and saying?
