  2. What is child labor? • The regular, full-time employment of children under a legally defined age in factories, stores, offices, etc.: in the U.S., the minimum legal age under federal law is 16.

  3. Labor Stats • Bangladesh makes up >2% of worlds population • 6.6 million of children in Bangladesh working • 5% of working children in the world • Children range from age 5 years old to 14 years old

  4. Typical Work Schedule • Work about 48hrs. a week • Earn about 60 Taka an hr. (about $0.87) • Earn less than 500 Taka a month (a lil less than $7.30)

  5. Types of Jobs • Shrimp processing • Auto repair • Electrical work • Stone skippers • Welders

  6. Affects of child labor • Grow up to be shorter • Muscular, chest, and abdominal pain • Respirator infections • Dizziness and headaches • Diarrhea and worm infections • Victims of sexual and verbal abuse • Punishment by starvation
