Best Geron Corp (GERN) • Purchased 400 shares on9/20 for $2.55 • Sold 200 on 9/27 for $4.27 • Sold 100 on 11/7 for $5.70 • Sold 100 on 11/7 for $5.55 • On 11/7 I sold at 123% increase, actually went up even higher! • I made $961 profit  Recently, their work on a drug to fight myelofibrosis has been very promising Located in Menlo Park California 2009 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine awarded to former Geron collaborator

  4. Worst Company (SCON)Superconductor Technology • Bought 300 shares for $2.10, sold for $1.70 • should have waited it out, closed a t $2 on 11/15 They develop and commercialize high temperature semiconductor material. Founded in 1987 and headquartered in Austin, TX

  5. Interesting (BREW)Craft Brew Alliance, Inc. Purchased for $10.84 as one of my originals, sold 75 shares for$17.749 on 10/25 and the remaining 75 on 11/14 for $15.442 $848 profit  Merger of leading Northwest brewers Headquartered in Portland, OR

What I Learned • The stock market is legalized gambling • Playing the market is fun but can be very risky • My threshold for risk is medium high when I am using fake money. • I found that I am interested in companies that are up and comers • Started with $10,000 • Ended with $12,246 • Gained 22.5% over 3 months….not bad! • Ended 3rd overall

Most important • This presentation is a B • Graph could be a little spiffier • No background, a little boring (make sure if you add a background the presentation is readable) • Put your personality into the presentation • My slides on the companies had very little info about the companies…we want to know more but don’t make your slides too wordy, like this one! • To add to your score, dress nicely for your presentation and do NOT read your powerpoint! Practice before you speak in front of the class.
