Apprenticeship Levy • Introduced April 2017 • Tax on all employers with wagebill over £3m • Funds are drawn down monthly into a digital account and held for 24 months • Funds can only be spent on apprenticeship training with approved providers 27% of employers use the levy to upskill existing staff Only 8% of levy funds utilized in year 1 Over 200 training programmes the levy can be spent on 46% of apprenticeships used to develop management skills
