Course Requirements • Must be at least a junior in good academic standing. • Should have fewer than 7 absences from the previous semester. • Must submit application to the program and be accepted by the supervising instructor, administration and prospective employer. • Must adhere to the attendance, dress, grooming and behavior policy of both the school and the prospective employer. • Should have at least a 2.0 GPA.
School-to-work Program • Local businesses are contacted • Job openings are advertised • Students fill out application • Interviews are conducted • Training agreements are signed • Student enters career with supervision by instructor • Evaluation phase concludes experience • Exit interview conducted
Student will set high goals and reach them STW Coordinator will conduct regular observations Students may be removed for poor performance or non-interest in career field Students will dress appropriately for job requirements No student will take the place of a regular employee No student will be placed in an unsafe work site Training site and student expectations
Grading and Evaluation • Employer = 80% • Journal = 10% • Time cards = 10% • Tardy slips will affect the grade: • 0-3 no penalty • 4-6: 1 grade deduction • 7-9: 2 grade deduction • > 10: Failure
Employer responsibilities • Provide a variety of work experiences • Assist in evaluating the worker • Provide occupational guidance • Identify skill deficiencies • Provide accurate records of attendance and progress
