Users Group Meeting • Ratified new Bylaws • Discussed • Vireo ProQuest Export documentation (posted on VUG website) • ETD Metadata Working Group (more on this next month!) • Upcoming TDL-coordinated development effort • Determined: • How customizations outside the “code of record” will be handled by the VUG • How the process for prioritizing new feature requests will work • Second VUG meeting at USETDA Conference (September 24-26 in Orlando) More information: http://vireoetd.org/vireo/

VUG Feature Enhancements vote • Each institution can submit up to 6 enhancement requests. • Stakeholders on each campus (library, grad school, etc.) must coordinate to submit the requests. • Deadline for enhancement requests: JUNE 1 • VUG Steering committee will release ballot for prioritization vote in mid-July • List of prioritized feature enhancements submitted to developers by August 7

Vireo development • June 2014: Vireo code review • July 2014: Implement infrastructure improvements (i.e. Play Framework) and bug fixes while VUG coordinates prioritization of new features • Late August/Early September 2014: Convene developer team to implement new features • Spring 2015: Implement new Vireo version for TDL-hosted Vireo installations Gad Krumholz, TDL software developer

DSpace upgrades • Migration of DSpace installations to new architecture completed this week. • Preparing for DSpace 4.x upgrades starting in mid-August (earlier for TDL Repository) • XMLUI will be default interface (same as before) • TDL DSpace 4.x Task Force will: • Review new features in DSpace 4.x • Prepare materials for training (e.g. webinar)

  7. Update DuraCloud for preservation • Decision to use DuraCloud 3.0 • Testing with existing pilot data • Work with DuraCloud developers (at DuraSpace) • Move to wider testing (two phases) beginning in late June 2014 • Small test group (representatives from 7-8 institutions) • Large test group (representatives from all member institutions)

  8. Open Journal Systems changes • Project: All OJS instances to be migrated to new architecture and upgraded to latest version. • What to know if you manage a TDL journal: • You will receive communication from the TDL before the move/upgrade. • The newest version does not have new features but will be in the latest architecture. Next up: Investigate SWORD publication from OJS to DSpace repository.

What was most valuable to you? “Networking with colleagues; learning what my colleagues at other institutions are up to.” “The amount of partnerships and collaborative projects highlighted, not just within Texas, but between different states and different countries.
