NCTM Recommends • Appropriate calculators should be available to ALL students at ALL times • A computer should be available in every classroom for demonstration purposes • Every student should have access to a computer for individual and group work • Students should learn to use the computer as a tool for processing information and performing calculations to investigate and solve problems
Suggestions for Selecting Software • Find reviews of the software • Super kids http://www.superkids.com/aweb/pages/reviews/math/4/sw_sum1.shtml • Attend conferences and workshops • Ask teachers what good software they know about • Request software from distributors that you may try out and return within a given amount of time • Be sure that you know what you want to achieve by purchasing a particular piece of software • While working with the software make sure that your expectations are met
